On Sunday May 24, 2026, a group of industrious community volunteers gathered at the cemetery with rakes, pruners and wheelbarrows. The entire cemetery was raked for 5 hours and 13 trailer loads of leaves were hauled to the RM brush depot. We lucked out with the weather as it was beautifully sunny and warm, low 20's just right for this type of physical work. There were many smiling faces as we broke for refreshments and it was great to catch up with those we haven't seen over a long winter.
A few weeks later another crew met to cut the grass and trim the edges. We arrived at the 6 pm meeting time only to find that some wonderful people already came that afternoon and cut most of the grass already!!! WE would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mack Parisian, Kevin Ateah and Dale Olafson for treating us all to such a wonderful surprise. If we have forgotten anyone who contributed to the early cutting please let us know.
This community never ceases to amaze! WE hope next year to see some of the younger generation, as us over 50 somethings certainly felt some muscle aches and pains! Next year Advil will be on the list for the "refreshments" table.
(We tried to snap photos of all but we know we missed a few camera shy individuals, likely because we were too busy raking ourselves! It goes without saying that all of you kind souls are appreciated!!!)
Dates to be announced
Bring your own equipment that you have readily available such as rakes, pruners, trowels, wheel barrows, push mowers (if you have the means).
Bring these items for your own comfort: Gloves, hat, raincoat (just in case!), comfortable sneakers or work boots, sunscreen and water.
The event will only be cancelled or postponed if there is heavy rain or snow (yikes!).
Light refreshments provided by community donation
