Cemetery Open House Sept 21, 2025 & Oct 5, 2025
Beyond historic stone pillar gates, Victoria Beach Cemetery exudes a calming serenity. Grassy slopes, lake breezes and whispering poplars provide a comforting space for remembrance and meditation. As a treasured and sacred asset of our community the cemetery continues to honor its historical mandate, accommodating members of the Victoria Beach community & descendants of those resting there.
Location: #1 McCawley Road, Victoria Beach, MB
(At the corner of McCawley Rd & Hwy #504)
The Victoria Beach Cemetery is governed by a Board of Trustees who are residents of the community. The cemetery does not have a paid staff to provide services so there are no "office hours". Board members are volunteers who allocate their own personal time to cemetery management, plot administration and plot measuring & marking for upcoming burials and monument installations.
Please give board members as much notice as possible to assist you with burial and monument arrangements and inquiries. Providing ample notice will ensure that burials are in the proper location and delays don't negatively impact planned interments and memorial events. Please be patient. Trustees diligently monitor cemetery email and aim to respond within a few days.
There are still a fair number of plots available for sale at Victoria Beach Cemetery, especially in the west half (west of the south entrance off McCawley Road). Typically, prospective purchasers will take a walk through the cemetery grounds to identify the general area where they wish to purchase. Once an empty spot or plot of interest is found, reach out by email to plotsales@victoriabeachcemetery.com noting your interest and a description of the target area. A board trustee will respond to assist you through the process which includes confirmation of plot availability, completion of an application to purchase, fee payment and lastly, issuance of a plot deed to the purchaser.
$500.00 per plot (Revised Sept 2024)
Plots are 4ft x 8ft. Each plot can accommodate 1 casket plus up to a maximum of 6 cremation interments. Caskets MUST be the first interment in a plot. I.e. A casket cannot be buried after cremated remains have been interred due to disturbance.
First, inform the cemetery board by email or phone (see contact info at the bottom of this page) at your earliest opportunity when an event is being arranged. We ask you to provide at least 2 weeks notice as board members are volunteers who will need to allocate time in their personal schedules to assist you. In the case of casket burials, we understand that timelines are quite short. Please ask the funeral home to notify the cemetery as soon as possible to avoid delays by emailing permits@victoriabeachcemetery.com
Once notified, the responding board trustee will guide you through next steps which include applying for either burial and/or monument installation permits. The permit process is efficient and designed to gather the necessary information required to accurately mark burial site location, enable accurate plot administration & record keeping, and to facilitate adherence to cemetery bylaw requirements.
Once the permit(s) is approved, board trustees will mark the grave plot and coordinate with you or funeral service/monument suppliers regarding placement location.
NOTE: The cemetery does NOT perform digging services. Digging services must be arranged with a private contractor. Contact the cemetery for a list of local contractors. In the case of cremation, families can opt to prepare the grave themselves as per guidelines provided in the cemetery bylaws.
When designing a monument, it is important to know that there are restrictions on monument size and type, as specified in the cemetery bylaws. The "Monument Design Considerations" provided here are intended as general guidance for monument design, however, please note the cemetery bylaws contain additional requirements regarding placement, markings, permit requirements, foundation requirements & responsibilities, upkeep responsibilities and more.
Note: Monuments installed prior to January 1, 2025 are not required to become compliant.
Solid surface grave covers (i.e. concrete or stone that covers all of grave regions #1 - #6, see diagram above) are strictly prohibited due to caving/hallowing and erosion that occurs beneath them in the cemetery's sandy soil. These conditions present potential hazards affecting the safety of cemetery visitors.
Monuments must not be of a size that would interfere with any future interments or nearby graves.
Monuments must be no higher than 3 feet above natural ground surface
Monuments must fit within the burial plot dimensions and must also fit within the designated grave region in which cremated remains have been interred
